Desert Mountain is offering a Farmers Market Cooking Class August 15th. Mark your calendars for this fun event. They had one this past weekend and I heard it was a lot of fun. It starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Chiricahua Clubhouse. A bus will pick everyone up and head to the Farmers Market. You will be able to pick the freshest produce with the help of Chef Mark Hamilton and Chef Christopher Nicosias at the Farmers Market. Everyone then returns to Constantino's kitchen for a fun, hands on cooking session. You will create a feast with the items selected at the farmers market. This is a fun filled day at Desert Mountain's famous Chiricahua Clubhouse. It is only $55 a person and of course only offered to members of Desert Mountain. What a great experience. Something fun and different to do with a friend or family members.

Fire Burns Down Home in Desert Mountain Scottsdale

A large custom home in Desert Mountain Scottsdale burned to the ground on Monday night. It was a 12,000 square foot custom home under construction in the Village of Sonoran Forest. The home was estimated to be 80% completed at the time of the the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental, related to the construction of the home. The Desert Mountain home was a complete loss. No one was home at the time and no one was injured. Fires in Desert Mountain Scottsdale are very rare. Damage to the home was estimated to be approximately $3.5 Million.

Desert Mountain has some of the finest restaurants in Scottsdale. I just had the best dinner at Constantino's in Desert Mountain. What a great way to end a long day of golf and sun! I sat at a table and enjoyed my gourmet dinner while overlooking the golf course I played earlier. I had the Halibut grilled with artichokes, roasted tomatoes, marinated olives, arugula with a lemon olive. Delicious with glass of red wine. I always enjoy selecting my wine from the 2000 bottle, two story wine tower at Constantino's. The views from the balcony over the Chiricahua Golf Course are amazing. Probably the most amazing views in the whole valley. You can see unobstructed mountains, multiple Desert Mountain golf courses and the city lights. Spectacular!

The Desert Mountain Tennis Center is an exceptional facility, recognized as one of the best in the nation. It is called "The Wimbledon of the West". The Tennis Center features a beautiful stadium grass court, five state of the art clay (har-tru) courts, and three hard courts. It is very rare for a Tennis Center to offer play on all 3 court surfaces within the same facility. This is especially true in Arizona.

The Stadium Grass court is an aesthetic work of art, making for a wonderful centerpiece for the entire Sonoran clubhouse. The grass court surface is one of the finest in the world. Most of our clients are very impressed by how immaculate the grass courts always appear. When we show them the Clay courts, usually they will show less enthusiasm. Frankly, the clay courts look gray, dull and odd. You can even see foot prints in the court surface. But that is exactly why I think the clay courts are so cool! The clay Har-Tru courts use a Hydro Court system which is essentially a clay tennis court on top of a controlled water reservoir. The water level is completely level under the court, allowing evaporation and capillary action to provide water to the playing surface evenly. How neat is that? Spent My Early Morning at the Cochise Course....

This morning I played the Cochise golf course at Desert Mountain with a friend. The Cochise golf course is best known at Desert Mountain as the former home to the Senior PGA tournament called the Tradition. We had a 9:12 tee time at the Cochise course so we both arrived at the course at 8 am to hit the practice range and warm up. The driving range and clubhouse was immaculately groomed and clean. After about 30 minutes of practicing we proceeded to the putting green, which is located next to the # 1 tee. We practiced on the greens to figure out what the speed was and quickly came to the decision that they were fast. Right on time we moved to the number one tee and swung away. The course was in great condition and the views were post card perfect. There were several road runners darting across the fairways and coyotes running through the shrubs vicariously. We were able to play a round of golf in 4 hours and 10 minutes, which was a great pace. We shared many laughs on the course as well as refreshments and snacks provided by the cart staff. When the round was over we decided to go to the clubhouse and freshen up at the spa. After that we then went to clubhouse restaurant and enjoyed a great lunch that looked over the mountains and city. It was another great day on the Desert Mountain golf courses.

Dance Event at Constantino's

Next Monday, May 11th, Constantino's will be hosting Pasta night and dance lessons  from  5–9 p.m. Sounds fun doesn't it? Why I Love the Apache Golf Course

The Apache course is one of my favorite courses at Desert Mountain. It is difficult to choose favorites when you play all six Jack Nicklaus courses on a regular basis. They all have such amazing features. I like Apache because I am a traditional golfer. Apache is 7,211 yards from the back tees, this is no joke. There are rolling fairways and subtle grassy landing areas. This offers a more relaxed back round of golf. The design of this golf course allows for approaches to the green and room to play around. Also, the eighteenth hole features two separate greens. Apache golf course has tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. everyday. Perfect for early morning practice.

Many people have asked me if the photos on our websites of deer at Desert Mountain are real. Somehow they just don't believe such an idyllic creature can wander between the homes at Desert Mountain. Well, yes of course, this is real. It is quite common for residents to see deer in Desert Mountain. The homes are exceptionally well spaced out, the landscape is kept very natural and Desert Mountain goes right up to the mountains. Deer are frequent guests in our community. In fact, one of my friends who lives in Sunrise Village had EIGHT deer in their backyard last night. What an amazing place to live! Concert Under the Stars

Desert Mountain is hosting “Concert Under the Stars”. Guests will enjoy dinner, music and dancing under the stars. The theme will be a Key West reunion, so pull out your island attire. They will be featuring some great island music including Calypso, Raggae, Classic Island Rock and Jazz. This fabulous event will be held Friday May 22 at The Arizona Grill. The reception starts at 6 pm and dinner starts at 7pm. Music will be enjoyed from 7-10pm. The cost is $55 per adult and $25 per child ages 5-12. Renegade Golf Course Restaurant - Casual Dining in a Spectacular Setting

One of my favorite restaurants in Desert Mountain is at the Renegade golf course at Desert Mountain. This course has a great restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. I like this restaurant not only because it is directly on the golf course and has great food, but also because it is completely casual and a relaxing place to get a bite to eat. Some clubs can make one feel uncomfortable and may seem “snooty”, not here. I like to have Sunday morning breakfast here. By the way, they make a great Bloody Marys. Renegade clubhouse has a pool table area where you can just relax and have some fun. The dinning room provides a laid back atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Every table has a view of the golf course as well. Another fun part of the Renegade dinning experience is they let you take a golf cart to the clubhouse, whether you are golfing or not. Now who doesn’t like to take a golf cart for a spin?

Desert Mountain was recently featured in the May 2009 edition of Phoenix magazine’s “21 Top Neighborhoods”. Each of the 21 neighborhoods featured were give a cute little title. Desert Mountain was named “The Transient Millionaire”.

The article goes on to explain a little about Desert Mountain and it’s 33 villages. Desert Mountain is different than other golf communities. The wide price range of homes allows for different economic classes and is therefore much less cliquey. There are many part time residents from the Midwest, back East and Canada. There are also many full time families living in Desert Mountain, including more than 400 kids.
